Hayne started in finish carpentry around the turn of the century, at the end of the trade where a sixteenth of an inch shows. Trim, casing, cabinetry, stair parts. The work that gets done last and gets looked at longest.
What pushed him into full remodels was watching good finish work get let down by everything that happened before it. A cabinet run is only as straight as the wall behind it. A mitre only closes if the framing did not move. You can be the best carpenter on a job and still hand over something you are not proud of, because six other people got there first.
Founding OneWay in 2008 was a way to control the whole thing rather than arrive at the end of somebody else’s. Eighteen years later that is still how it runs. He draws it, he builds it, he installs it, and he supervises every job himself.

Between one and eight people work a project depending on its size. Hayne is one of them, and he does not run two large jobs at once so that he can be on both.
How he works
Most remodeling companies buy cabinetry in and hire someone to hang it. These are three stages of the same kind of work, and all three happened here.

You will not meet a salesperson, sign, and then never see them again. There is no showroom, no design department and no project manager you have not met, because there is nobody to hand you to. That is not a service promise. It is just how a company this size works when the owner is a carpenter.
Not every project needs a carpenter and a crew, and Hayne will tell you so in the first five minutes rather than three weeks in. If the job is a repaint or a single fixture, he will say it is not his kind of work and save you the money. He would rather lose the call than take a job he cannot do well.
